Abstract
Lanyon's Psychological Screening Inventory was translated into Arabic and applied to a group of 479 males and females whose ages ranged from 16 to 50 yr. Means, standard deviations, and the pattern of mean differences between the sexes were similar to those reported by Lanyon for the English version. One exception was the Alienation scale on which the mean score of the present subjects was more than one-and-a-half standard deviations above the average. Test-retest reliabilities of the scales were satisfactory. The inventory was applied to special groups including psychiatric patients and prison inmates, and the validities were estimated accordingly. It was concluded that the inventory could be used with Kuwaiti subjects. Further studies were recommended.
