Abstract
Responses of 32 white and 20 black adults (inpatients and outpatients) were subjected to regression analyses to discover which form(s) of the Quick Test best predicted WAIS Full Scale IQs for each race and for pooled data. Differences between scores of white and black patients on the Quick Test and WAIS Full Scale IQ also were assessed. Quick Test Form 1 best predicted WAIS Full Scale IQs for the white, black, and the combined data. The use of two-variable regressions was not warranted. No significant differences in IQs were found between groups of white and black patients on the three forms of the Quick Test and WAIS Full Scale IQs. Collecting local predictive norms when using the Quick Test was recommended, as was further research on differences in predicting WAIS IQs from Quick Test scores for white and black subjects.
