Manifest Needs among Rotc and Non-Rotc Undergraduates

Abstract

Manifest needs of ROTC and non-ROTC undergraduates were studied utilizing the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS). It was hypothesized that the ROTC undergraduates would be higher than non-ROTC undergraduates on Order and lower on Autonomy and Aggression. The EPPS was administered to 20 ROTC undergraduates and to a randomly selected sample of 20 male undergraduates at St. John's University in New York City. None of the hypothesized differences in manifest needs were found, but the ROTC undergraduates were significantly lower on Intraception and significantly higher on Heterosexuality than the non-ROTC undergraduates.
