Abstract
To distinguish those Psychiatric Technician Trainees at Porterville State Hospital who successfully complete their year's training from those who submit resignations in lieu of termination before completion of training, three measures of study skills and two personality inventories, the Strong Vocational Interest Blank and the California Psychological Inventory, were administered to all students at the beginning of training. Of the 54 scales on the Strong Form M, 12 including 7 of the 10 scales from Group V, the Social Service category, differentiated between males who remained and those who left ( p < .05). Essentially negative results were obtained for the study skills measures, the CPI, and the Strong Form W.
