Abstract
Linguistic and Mathematical Proclivity Scales, developed from the Picture Interest Inventory (PII) items, distinguished between high and low scorers on relevant tests of the Multiple Aptitude Test (MAT). From U. S. Department of Labor Statistics and Roe's theoretical framework, Worker Demand and Level of Career Responsibility Scales, respectively, were developed for the PII, too. MAT and PII were administered to 130 ninth graders. The work-oriented interest scales were highly intercorrelated. A factor analysis revealed two factors with loadings on the new scales.
