Abstract
In this article are reviewed observations and studies concerning the influence of first names on interpersonal interactions. Investigations of desirability of names and research relating first names to personality development, teachers' and peers' attitudes are considered. Data are limited; it is important to investigate the ways in which a person's first name may affect self-attitudes, interpersonal interactions, and achievement.
