Abstract
The Uses Test consists of 50 questions of the type, “What is so and so for?.” The 50 referents in the questions are believed to be almost universally familiar to children and hence suitable for administration almost anywhere. Experience with them indicates that this is true. The 7 scoring categories yield meaningful scores and are useful for group comparisons.
