Abstract
Reliabilities of the Personal Orientation Inventory scales were developed using a modified split-half method and the coefficients compared with earlier estimates of internal consistency ( n = 239 females). The modified split-half method yielded reliability estimates higher than previous alpha coefficients across all scales and higher than previous split-half coefficients for 10 of the 12 scales. The modified split-half approach was judged useful for heterogeneous scales such as these.
