Abstract
124 entering engineering freshmen were administered the Adjective Checklist and used the same list of 300 adjectives to describe engineers. Of the 37 scales 86% (or 32) showed significant differences between the description of self and that for engineers. The students also described themselves as significantly different from the normative college male group. Sixty percent of the sample was still enrolled in engineering three years later.
