Abstract
The hypothesis that similarity to a stranger in self-disclosing tendencies is related to greater attraction for this person was confirmed for highly self-disclosing females but not for low self-disclosing females. For males, the hypothesis was not supported for the “liking” variable, but an interaction obtained for the “desirability as a work partner” variable as high self-disclosers preferred a similar other and low self-disclosers a dissimilar other.
