Abstract
When asked to “draw-a-person” 366 children from the age 5 yr. through age 11 yr. (170 girls and 196 boys) responded. It was assumed that the point of reference for the drawings of “a person” would be the self and would, therefore, reflect the same sex as the drawer. Girls drew female figures 88% of the time. Boys drew male figures 94% of the time.
