Abstract
This paper proposes a program of Type A research in which labor is divided between those concerned with the relations of Type A status and stress on the one hand, and those interested in the relations between confirmed stress and biological pathology on the other. A review of research illustrates the value of restricting Type A studies to determining the factors that enhance the vulnerability or immunity of individuals to excessive stress loads.
