Abstract
Two multidimensional methods, presented by Ekman and Stone-Coles respectively, were compared for two empirical materials. The values on which the two analyses were based, mean similarities and “correlational similarities,” showed to be curvilinearly related. Starting from the interpretation of the stimulus structure according to Ekman's method, which gives unipolar dimensions only, hypotheses were formulated for the outcome of the Stone-Coles method, which also may give bipolar dimensions. The hypotheses were essentially confirmed but there were some discrepancies between the outcomes of the methods.
