Abstract

The psychophysical function for numerousness was determined by the magnitude estimation method with no designated standard and no assigned modulus, using nine ranges of the stimuli. Numerousness is a peculiar continuum for which the form of the psychophysical function is independent of the range (null range effect). Moreover, the psychophysical function was shown to be a straight line.
