Abstract
A semantic approach to Fisher's (1970) Body Focus Questionnaire gives a proper setting to a controversy about the meaning of correlations between the scales of the questionnaire. It points to biases that definitely affect some correlations. For instance, in Reihman and Fisher's data (1984), none of the 13 statistically significant correlations (total sample) out of 28 is to be found among the 7 biased pairs. Further empirical investigations are suggested.
