Decay and Reversibility of Learned Helplessness in the Cockroach (Periplaneta Americana)

Abstract

The time course of learned helplessness and the reversibility of the escape deficit were investigated in the cockroach. Unlike other species investigated, the escape deficit was not present in the 39 cockroaches after a 1-week interval; however, the escape deficit was reversed by forced escape, which is characteristic of other species.
