Abstract
The purpose of this study was to relate two-point MMPI code types to choice and success in physical and social science majors. Four hypotheses, derived from an earlier study, were tested: (a) the 3-4/4-3 students are the modal code types in sociology, (b) the 4-9/9-4 students are the modal code types in history, (c) the 2-7/7-2 students in the physical sciences are significantly above the mean on GPA for their majors, and (d) the 8-9/9-8 students in the social sciences are significantly below the mean on GPA for their majors. Strong support was found for the first two hypotheses, and moderate support was found for the third. Finally the need for replications of this kind of research was emphasized.
