Abstract
Studies with adults have established that sex of examiner and patient can interact to modify the number of Rorschach responses produced. This investigation tested whether sex pairing could also affect children's Rorschach productivity. Research supports the idea that a child's identification with a same-sex adult is heightened between the ages of 6 and 12 yr. It was hypothesized that children in this age range would produce the most responses when tested by an adult of the same sex. Protocols obtained from 83 children supported the hypothesis. The findings demonstrate that interpersonal factors can influence the testing of children.
