Abstract
Dermatology history teaches us about success, failure, mistakes, innovation and triumphs: how to achieve and how to avoid disaster. It is about the growth of ideas and how changes in medicine mirrored changes in society. Failure to understand the errors of history dooms us to repeat these. Understanding historical triumphs helps us to achieve these in the future. This short chapter discusses key themes of importance in dermatology history.
