Abstract
Abstract
This chapter describes the diagnosis and treatment of the four major variants of chronic leg ulcers with a macrovascular origin: venous leg ulcers; mixed venous and arterial leg ulcers; arterial leg ulcers; and Martorell hypertensive ischaemic leg ulcers. The majority of patients with chronic ulcers can be treated effectively and healed. This, however, requires standardised work‐up and treatment planning. The text highlights the hallmarks of vascular leg ulcers and suggests algorithms to successful management.
