Mucocutaneous Pain Syndromes

Abstract

Abstract The mucocutaneous pain syndromes typically involve the head, neck, genitalia and mouth. These are a heterogeneous group of disorders characterised by unpleasant dysaesthetic symptoms. Some have a clearly demonstrable neurological origin, while for many, no organic cause can be identified. Psychosocial co‐morbidities are frequently encountered in this patient group and outcomes may be optimised by offering holistic, patient‐centred, multidisciplinary management.
