Abstract
Medication adherence is an important determinant of treatment outcome and is especially pertinent in managing chronic disorders such as schizophrenia. Clinicians who work with patients with schizophrenia generally agree that non‐adherence with antipsychotics such as risperidone is associated with high rates of relapse and rehospitalization, with worsening symptoms that can include suicidality and violence.
