Abstract
AbstractA 10‐year‐old, spayed, domestic, shorthaired cat was referred for cellulitis of the abdominal wall. Histopathological examination of cutaneous biopsies revealed nodular to diffuse pyogranulomatous dermatitis and panniculitis with tissue grains. Nocardia abscessus was identified via 16s rRNA PCR. Susceptibility testing showed that the isolated bacteria was susceptible to amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, which was prescribed for 11 months. Successive controls showed a progressive resolution of cutaneous signs, and no relapse was seen 5 months after treatment termination. This case report describes the first case of N. abscessus infection in a cat.
