Abstract

AbstractThis study is interested in blends based on poly (hydroxybutyrate‐co hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) and polypropylene (PP), using maleic anhydride (AM) as a compatibilizing agent and titanium dioxide (TiO2) acting as a filler in the matrix. In this work, the study of the miscibility of two polymers, as well as their physical mixtures is done. The results reveal that the immiscible PP/PHBV blend can be effectively accounted for by maleic anhydride. The latter is able to create chemical bonds between the macromolecular chains of the two polymers at the interface and therefore improve their properties.
