Abstract

Abstract The effect of hormone therapy on the growth of human non-endocrine pancreatic adenocarcinoma xenografts in nude mice was evaluated. The androgen testosterone stimulated tumour growth rate, whereas the anti-androgen cyproterone acetate significantly inhibited tumour growth rate compared with untreated controls. These findings provide further support for the suggestion that the growth and metabolism of pancreatic carcinoma may be dependent on the sex steroid hormones.
