Abstract

Abstract A rare complication of chloral hydrate intoxication is described. Added to the initial acute cardiorespiratory and central nervous system depression, subsequent gastric necrosis and perforation provided a difficult problem in management. A satisfactory outcome was finally achieved using the Roux-en-Y technique to by-pass the stricture at the oesophagogastric anastomosis.
