Abstract
Three hundred consecutive operations for calculous biliary-tract disease are reviewed with particular reference to the influence of routine operative cholangiography. The technique and instruments used in cholangiography have been described and the operative and follow-up statistical data have been analysed. The value of operative cholangiography before and after duct exploration is discussed with particular reference to the problem of the residual stone and the fruitless duct exploration.
