Abstract
Abstract
Six patients with biliary peritonitis occurring as a complication of acute cholecystitis are reported. Five of the 6 patients had no detectable perforation of the gallbladder. The literature of this topic is reviewed and a theory is put forward to account for biliary peritonitis without perforation of the gallbladder in acute cholecystitis.
