Abstract

Abstract The results of published prospective studies on changes in bile duct width after cholecystectomy are contradictory and comprise relatively few patients, often after short or medium-term follow-up. The objectives of this prospective long-term follow-up study were to investigate whether bile duct width increased significantly after cholecystectomy and to seek evidence of biliary obstruction in patients with excessively dilated ducts.
