Duodenal diverticulum treated by excision of mucosal pouch only

Abstract

Abstract The incidence of duodenal diverticulum and complications is discussed. The incidence of symptoms is probably about 10 per cent. It is suggested that more cases merit operative treatment than receive it at present. Operative procedures are discussed and a simplified method, involving removal of the mucosal pouch only after duodenotomy, is described and a case presented illustrating the method.
