Resection with exteriorization in the management of faecal fistulas originating in the small intestine

Abstract

Abstract The management of faecal fistulas originating in the small intestine is discussed, with particular reference to the problems of surgical intervention. A plea is made for the use of resection of the fistulated segment of bowel with exteriorization of the ends whenever this proves practicable. This method was successful in 9 out of 10 cases in which it was employed.
