Abstract
Abstract
A case of multiple strictures of the upper mid-gut, here described, was associated with malabsorption, a feature not previously recorded. The condition most frequently affects the jejunum, but the duodenum and ileum may also be involved. The disease produces multiple strictures due to the formation of mucosal valves, which may almost occlude the intestinal lumen. Histologically the lesion affects only the mucosal and submucosa. It may result from atypical Crohn's disease or subacute non-specific enteritis. It remains to be seen whether simple incision of the strictures will suffice in treatment.
