Abstract

AbstractMetal‐free trifluoromethyltellurolation of indoles with [Me4N][TeCF3] in the presence of NIS allowed a convenient synthesis of 3‐TeCF3‐substituted indole derivatives in good yields. The reaction proceeded smoothly under mild conditions and showed good functional group tolerance. It was noteworthy that [Me4N][TeCF3] had a distinct reaction profile for indole systems in comparison with [Me4N][SeCF3]. The trifluoromethyltellurolated products were unprecedented and decomposed rapidly even in the darkness and under a N2 atmosphere. This work represents the first metal‐free trifluoromethyltellurolation of indoles with the sensitive [Me4N][TeCF3] salt as TeCF3 reagent.
