Zinc‐Embedded Porous Organic Framework Catalyzed Synthesis of 2‐Phenyl Benzimidazoles

Abstract

AbstractHere we report the synthesis and characterization of a zinc‐loaded melamine‐based porous organic framework as a potential heterogeneous catalyst which is well characterized by FTIR, XRD, FE‐SEM, HR‐TEM, BET analysis etc. The catalytical activity of Zn@MTPOF is deliberated by the reaction of arylaldehydes and 1,2‐phenylenediamine for the synthesis of 2‐aryl‐benzimidazole under very benign reaction conditions. It afforded outstanding yield of the products in minimal time that is 8 to 20 minutes. It can be recycled and reutilized several times without decline in its catalyst activity.
