Synthesis and Reactions of Heptacyclo[6.6.0.02,6.03,13.04,11.05,9.010,14] tetradecane‐ HCTD Cage Compounds

Abstract

AbstractHeptacyclo[6.6.0.02,6.03,13.04,11.05,9.010,14] tetradecane, HCTD is a distinct class of carbocyclic cage molecule which features the uniquely fused eight five‐membered rings. The HCTD molecular frame is synthesized through the transition metal‐catalyzed dimerization of two norbornadiene units. Post‐assembly modifications of HCTD molecular frames have delivered diversely functionalized HCTD derivatives suitable for further modification.
