Abstract

AbstractThe synthesis of several semithiocarbazides, relevant as a precursor material for the synthesis of the tetrazole azasydnone, a potential energetic material, was explored. In this work, the treatment of 4‐methoxy phenylhydrazine hydrochloride with phenyl isothiocyanate results in 2‐ and 1‐ isomers of (4‐methoxyphenyl)‐N‐phenylhydrazine‐1‐carbothioamide. Similar treatment of 3,6,–dihydrazino‐1,2,4,5‐tetrazine with phenyl isothiocyanate yielded 2,2’‐(1,2,4,5‐tetrazine‐3,6‐diyl) bis (N‐phenylhydrazine‐1‐carbothioamide). Crystallographic information for all novel compounds was obtained via single crystal X‐ray diffraction.
