Pressure and isothermal compressibility of complex plasmas in the average Wigner–Seitz cell model with regard to nonlinear screening effect

Abstract

AbstractWe consider a two‐component electroneutral equilibrium complex plasma of finite‐sized macroions (each with a charge , ) and point oppositely charged microions with unit charges. We take into account a macroions nonlinear screening effect and obtain system pressure in the Wigner–Seitz average cell model within the framework of the Poisson–Boltzmann approximation. It is shown that the obtained pressure and isothermal compressibility are positive over the entire range of macroions concentrations.
