Electron transfer processes in the mechanism of chemical reactions in solution

Abstract

AbstractHaber was the first to introduce reactions of free radicals into the mechanism of reactions in solution. It has been shown how these concepts have developed during the last few years, particularly with regard to processes of autoxidation, the reactions of hydrogen peroxide and the photochemistry of ions in solution.Finally, it has been discussed how basically similar ideas can be applied to radiation chemistry where they have led to the consideration of reactions of free radicals and of electron‐hole pairs.
