Abstract
Key Clinical MessagePelvic inflammatory disease associated with cytomegalovirus infection in immunocompetent adults might be difficult to diagnose because of the rarity and relatively inconspicuous symptoms of infectious mononucleosis. Even if the main complaint is lower abdominal pain, careful search for symptoms latent outside the abdomen could lead to the diagnosis.
