Abstract

In this paper, we propose a cost‐effective driver allocation scheme based on the Genetic Algorithm (GA) aimed at improving fuel efficiency for bus companies. With our evaluations using real bus sensing data, our scheme has demonstrated a significant reduction in running resistance, achieving a 20%–26% decrease compared to current real‐world allocations. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
