1. The proton affinity (PA) is defined as the enthalpy difference between a neutral compound N and the protonated species NH+ at room temperature (298 K). Thermal contributions are included in the PA values. The free energy difference at 298 K, which includes the entropic corrections, are termed gas‐phase basicities.[2].
