Abstract
Light field displays enable viewers to perceive true three‐dimensional (3D) images with the naked eye. A wide viewing angle would provide a more comfortable viewing condition and the possibility for multiple users. However, there is typically a trade‐off between the form factor and the viewing angle. Based on the previously developed lenticular‐type flat panel light field display, this paper proposes the use of an isolated micro lens array (i‐MLA) in conjunction with an extended coding pitch algorithm to address crosstalk issues. This solution not only reduces the constraints on the minimum viewing distance but also expands the field of view, all without increasing the thickness of the display panel.
