AbstractTrifluoromethylphosphines (TFMPhos) represent a rare kind of phosphine with unique electronic properties that result in unusual reactivities, such as the ability to promote a reductive elimination step or as a trifluoromethylation reagent. This concept article summarizes current developments in methods for synthesizing this tertiary phosphine, as well as their practical applications.
