Abstract
Low refresh rate liquid crystal displays have been proposed to reduce power consumption, which is already the trend. In our early low‐temperature polycrystalline silicon liquid crystal displays, low‐frequency driving caused the screen to flicker. We investigated the flicker mechanism and improvement solutions in this paper. The flicker mechanism is mainly related to thin‐film transistor leakage current, capacitive coupling effect, and cell material property. By adopting some solutions, the flicker of gray level 127 can reach‐60dB in a 20Hz 13.5‐inch 2.8K demo. These results contribute to the development of low‐power consumption displays.
