It is actually quite confusing as to whether K3[Fe(CN)6] or K4[Fe(CN)6] was used as in old (early to mid 19th century) literature only the term “Blutlaugensalz” is used which does not specify the oxidation state of iron whereas newer literature gives oxidation states but is not consistent in interpretation.
