Over the years other researchers have bestowed other names on C60 such as buckyball, fullerite, footballeen, soccerballene, ballene, spherene, and carbosoccer and even keplerkugel. The Chemical Abstracts name is, however, footballeen (registry number [99 685-96-8]). The Chemical Abstracts name for C70 is [5,6]fullerene-C70 (registry number [115 383-22-7]).
