Gram‐stain‐positive, aerobic, filamentous bacteria that produce nonfragmenting, branched vegetative hyphae. Short chains of cylindrical shape, nonmotile spores, and globose bodies arise from the substrate mycelium. Cream to light yellow substrate mycelium is produced but soluble pigments are not reported. Catalase positive and urease negative. Grows between 20–37°C, at pH 6–9, and on media supplemented with 1% NaCl (w/v). Chemoorganotrophic. The diagnostic cell wall amino acid is
