Abstract
AbstractAutism spectrum disorder (ASD) symptoms are more subtle in infants, resulting in variable rates of detection. Assessment of early symptoms has improved in recent years with the revision of diagnostic instruments as well as reformulation of diagnostic criteria in theDSM‐5. By age 2, ASD symptoms affecting social communication and interaction; restrictive, repetitive behaviors, interests, and activities; social attention; temperament; and bonding are more obvious. A rapidly developing area of study focuses on detective of ASD symptoms in the prodromal (preonset) stage.
