Abstract
Economic and social developments exhibit periodic cycles that vary in length, with some lasting between 40 and 60 years. Academic literature refers to these cycle‐like phenomena as Kondratieff cycles or Kondratieff waves. They are triggered by groundbreaking innovations (so‐called basic innovations) that lead to a far‐reaching reorganization of the economy and society. This method combines human, social, and economic sciences and provides a framework designed to examine society as a whole. Since the beginnings of industrialization in the eighteenth century, economists have empirically proven five Kondratieff cycles. A new long cycle began at the start of the twenty‐first century: the sixth Kondratieff cycle. It is triggered and sustained by physical, psychological, mental, social, ecological, and spiritual innovations in a holistic health system.
