Abstract
AbstractExperimental results for the nuclear magnetic relaxation rate of Cl35 and Br81 in aqueous solutions of YCl and YBr, Y = Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, (NH4), at room temperature are reported. Viscosity measurements for solutions of LiI, NaBr, RbBr, RbI, and CsBr over the entire solubility range at room temperature are also reported. The relaxation data are evaluated by aid of the theory of quadrupole interaction in ionic solutions. Iodine relaxation data in solutions of YI127, Y = Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs, (NH4), taken from the literature, are also evaluated within the same scheme. It turns out that all relaxation data can be explained entirely by electrostatic interactions.
